Yellowstone National Park was established in 1872 as the world's first national park. Because of the rough trails, it could be travelled by horse or foot only. The first Inn was opened in 1904. Today roads lead to the geysers and can be reached most of the year; or at least during summer time. During winter mostly snow mobiles are used.
They have over 300 active Geysers in the park with Old Faithful being the one they can count on erupting approximately every 93 minutes; with 3700 to 8400 gallons of boiling water coming out of the ground. It blows into the air at a temperature of 199 degrees F and reaches a height of 106 to 184 feet. It was impressive and I want to see others who supposedly show incredible colors. A good reason to return and I can only recommend visiting Yellowstone Park. Although it is a huge tourist attraction, the animals, such as black bears, grizzlies, elk, antelopes, moose, panthers, wolfs, and others are running wild and their rights are being put ahead of man. What can I say? Although the scenery is totally different, memories came back of my trip through Krueger National Park in South Africa many many years ago.
Today we saw two grizzlies on the way up, at an elevation of 8391 feet at the Continental Divide.
We also encountered two herds of Buffalo (American Bison) which are running wild here. Still want to see a moose though. Beautiful, beautiful!
Tomorrow we leave through Yellowstone Park for Anaconda, Montana, where we will visit relatives. I love our journey!
Heute waren wir im Yellowstone Park, der auf einem der groessten Volcanos der Welt liegt.
Yellowstone National Park wurde in 1872 als der erste Nationale Park in der Welt erklaert. Zu der Zeit konnte der Park nur per Pferd oder zu Fuss erobert werden und das erste Inn wurde nicht vor 1904 gebaut. Heute kann man die Geiser gut per Auto erreichen, wenigstens im Sommer. Im Winter muss man meist ein Snowmobile benutzen.
Es gibt hier ueber 300 aktive Geiser. Old Faithful ist nicht der Groesste, aber der einzige, der ca. alle 93 Minuten explodiert und zwischen 14,000 bis 32,000 Liter Wasser in die Luft schiesst, mit einer Temperatur von 93 Grad Celcius. Es gibt hier ueber 300 aktive Geiser, viele in sehr huebschen Farben, was mich interessiert. Ein Grund nochmals herzukommen und ich kann einen Besuch nach Yellowstone Park jedem empfehlen. Einzigartig! Wir sind Grizzli Baeren und zwei Herden von Buffalos (Amerikanische Bisons) begegnet, die hier frei herumlaufen. Zudem hat es schwarze Baeren, Antilopen, riesige Elche, Panter, Woelfe, usw., die frei herumlaufen und es wird aufgepasst, dass Mann nicht im Weg ist. Obwohl die Gegend total anders ist, habe ich mich an den Krueger Nationalpark in Suedafrika erinnern muessen. Solche Erlebnisse wuensche ich jedermann! Einfach einzigartig!
Morgen geht es durch den Yellowstone Park nach Anaconda, Montana, wo wir Bekannte von Don besuchen werden. Wir freuen uns und sind weiterhin begeistert von unserer Reise!
