Bellingham, WA - last stop before Alaska

We arrived in Bellingham! I should say in Lynden, where our campsite is. The place is so neat and the nicest looking KOA we have ever stayed in. The lawns look like golf courses and everything is trimmed and looking like postcards. This KOA has great computer connection, but no cable. That's o.k., we get one channel from Canada and I have a good book to read and stuff to knit.

As soon as we arrived and had the RV in place, a belt on our truck broke. We called Uncle Sam and they arranged for someone to come out to replace it. Since our place is a bit out of the way, we are happy that Uncle Sam will at least pay the transport of the repair guy. We drove through mountains and clouds to get here. How lucky can we get to make it here first?!

This is our last stop before going on the ferry to Alaska. We have to check out the place where we will leave our rig and have a few days to explore the area. We also have to pack our suitcase and hope to get a few days without rain. Oh yes, this is our first day of rain for which not only Washington State, but also Sitka is known. The temperature has dropped also, but we are prepared for it and should have fun no matter what.

Wir sind in Bellingham, WA, angekommen! Unser Campingplatz ist in Lynden und der schoenste Platz von allen Campingplaetzen  die wir bisher besucht haben. Der Rasen sieht aus wie auf einem Golfplatz und alles ist sauber, gruen, und hat wunderschoene alte Baeume. Wir haben guten Computeranschluss, dafuer nur einen Sender auf dem Fernseher, von Canada. Ist in Ordnung, ich habe ein gutes Buch und kann mal wieder stricken.

Wir hatten gerade unseren RV geparkt, als ein Riemen an unserem Auto platzte. Nach diversen Telefonanrufen ist jemand unterwegs, um es zu reparieren. Ist nicht ganz so einfach an unserem Diesel. Wir koennen von Glueck reden, dass wir hier angekommen sind ohne Probleme, vor allem nach der Herreise mit Regen und schlechter Sicht, da wir wieder durch Berge und diesmal niedrige Wolken durchfahren mussten. War kein Spass. Ja, dies war unser erster Tag mit Regen, was normal fuer Washington State und auch fuer Sitka, Alaska, sein soll. Wir hoffen dennoch auf ein paar klare Tage und nehmen es wie es kommt. Natuerlich hat sich die Temperatur auch abgekuehlt, aber es ist trotzdem sehr schoen.

Morgen hoffen wir Bellingham kennenzulernen, die Abfahrtsstelle fuer die Faehre nach Alaska und den Platz wo wir den RV und das Auto unterstellen wollen zu finden.  Dies ist unsere letzte Haltestelle vor unserer Reise per Faehre nach Sitka, Alaska.
