Each camping lot has a good size tree for shade. Look at the one we ended up with!
We had a very relaxing day and ate Elk Burger for lunch. I guess some Elk left the Refuge next door. We liked it a lot!
When I looked out of the window this morning, a guy walked buy, dressed in a sweatsuit and a wool cap. Luckily it turned into a lovely summer day with very pleasant temperatures. We explored the town of Jackson which started out with a saloon and a store during the time cattle was moved west. I can't even imagine moving herds through Indian country up to 6500 feet into the mountains.
Jackson has grown, of course, and has very cozy stores, restaurants, galleries and banks. It's a lovely little tourist town with a good feel to it. The town middle is crowned with four antler arches which are impressive. Hey Otto, may be you can build one of those in Hochstadt!

Ich schaute aus dem Fenster heute morgen und sah einen Mann im Trainingsanzug und Wollmuetze. Brrr! Zum Glueck ist es waermer geworden und wir hatten einen herrlichen Sommertag.

Jackson hatte frueher nur einen Saloon und einen kleinen Laden, fuer die Cowboys, die Herde von cattle in diese Gegend brachten. Man kann sich kaum vorstellen, wie sie durch dieses Indianergebiet und bis zu 2000 m Hoehe in die Berge gekommen sind. Heute ist Jackson ein sehr nettes Touristenstaedtchen mit gemuetlichen Laeden, Restaurants, Gallerien, und Banken. Die Stadtmitte enthaellt vier Arche, die aus Elchgeweiden gebaut wurden. Otto, wie waers solch eine Arch in Hochstadt aufzustellen?!
